Does Teachers On Call require me to work a certain number of days or hours?

We do require that you work once within a 150-day gap.  Beyond that, there is no set number of hours or shifts that you are required to work as an employee of Teachers On Call. We offer flexible scheduling and discuss your availability with you at the time of hire. Of course, if you are looking to work as much as possible, our staffing coordinators will work with you on a day to day basis to assist you with securing assignments.  If you are going to be unavailable longer than a month and a half, then reach out to our Substitute Services team and let them know.

Can I work with other schools, districts, or companies even if I am employed with TOC?

Absolutely! Teachers On Call does not have substitute staff under contract, and you may work for any other districts, schools, or companies that you like.

What type of benefits does Teachers On Call offer?

Teachers On Call offers weekly pay, bonuses, an insurance plan for those who qualify, and the option to deposit money into an 401K retirement account.  More detailed information about our many benefits will be provided to you upon hire.

What if a district, school, or early child care center wants to hire me?

Congratulations! Teachers On Call employees are not under contract and are eligible for hire at any time.  Please ask the school or district to contact Teachers On Call directly so we can assist in the transition to your new position as soon as possible.

Does the demand for substitutes slow down in the summer?

Yes. The majority of the requests for substitutes ends when school lets out for the summer months. We do offer summer school staffing options to schools and will make those opportunities known as they become available.

Rest assured, work will pick back up again when school resumes in the fall.  You will remain active in our system.

Are you interested in working with our Early Child Care program in the Twin Cities metro area? You’re in luck – these centers offer substitute assignments year round. Please contact your Staffing Coordinator for more information on getting qualified in Early Child Care.

What if I want to change my contact info, W-4, or bank information?

We want to make sure that we have the most current information on file for you at all times.  Please contact us (800-713-4439) if you change your phone number, mailing address, email, banking information, or W-4 preferences.

I no longer wish to be on call with Teachers On Call – what do I do?

Please contact Teachers On Call to let us know that you are no longer available. We need to take the steps necessary to process your resignation.
