St. Cloud, MN - Substitute Forum: The hard to reach student
We are excited to bring our Substitute Forum to the St. Cloud area! This free, two-hour event operates like a focus group, giving all substitute staff who attend an opportunity to gain and give advice regarding some of the concerns and issues that are faced everyday as a substitute. This forum will be held on Tuesday, March 12th, from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the St. Cloud School District Offices.
The topic of this forum will be focused on creative ways to engage and interact with the difficult-to-reach student. Almost every class has at least one student who challenges your authority, who doesn't want to participate or who simply just wants to be argumentative. While we may have ways that have helped some of these students engage, these strategies are often not a one-size-fits-all and require adapting, tweaking or a new approach with each encounter. Whether you have a lot of experience in this area, are new to it, or as one attendee had said, "always looking for another arrow in your quiver", this is a great opportunity for us to gain a little more knowledge to make for a great day in the classroom.
Space in the room is limited, so make sure you sign up quick! If registration is full and you would like to be placed on a waiting list, or if you have any questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org!
