With the school year winding down, it can feel difficult to keep students' minds from wandering to all things summer even though there are still a few weeks of valuable classroom time left.  Now more than ever, lesson plans should be engaging enough to hold the kids' attention and to keep them motivated to learn, a task more challenging than usual at this time of the year.  Luckily, Memorial Day is right around the corner, and with it comes the opportunity to mix in some Memorial Day themed activities.  The article below posted by www.edutopia.com offers a variety of activities and lesson plans for all ages to utilize in the classroom.  For substitutes, a day without a lesson plan is always a challenge, so having a timely back up plan is always a good idea.  Take a look at the article, and let us know if you plan to use any of these ideas with your students!
